Tamer Hassan The Business

The Business: Tamer Hassan, Terrinda's & Tennis Shorts

If you've seen Nick Love's cult classic The Business from 2005 then you'll probably remember that iconic scene where Charlie played by Tamer Hassan is waiting for a drugs drop in the "orange groves".

The legendary Tamer Hassan scene from The Business not only marked the downfall of Charlie's cocaine empire in the film it also showed us the complete playboy sportswear look of the 80s era. Sun tans, slicked back hair, gold aviators, tennis shorts and of course the celebrated Fila Terrinda track top. For those who didn't grow up in the peacocking heydays of the early 1980s it was their very first glimpse into the colourful world of expensive Italian sportswear and its playboy appeal. The Business gave the viewer an exclusive insight into the expensive Italian sportswear of the "Costa Del Crime", literally like nothing before it. The UK's homegrown Casual style, usually associated with dingy working class pubs and rain soaked terraces was put under a completely different spotlight of flamboyant Marbella villas, luxury yachts, neon clad nightclubs & champagne lifestyles. It's not surprising really the Terrinda's elitist appeal was rekindled courtesy of the cult classic. Even though its now nearly 20 years after the original release, the Terrinda still remains one of our most talked about track top styles Tamer Hassan The Business Above: Tamer Hassan in The Business from 2005 sporting the iconic Fila Terrinda track top. The Fila Settanta Mk3, or Terrinda as it was more commonly known, marked one of the last 'BJ' styles the Swedish tennis great, Bjorn Borg, would wear throughout his highly successful but relatively short sporting career. Introduced at a pinnacle of casual fashion the Fila Terrinda still remains one of our most sought after styles from the 80s era. By the time the Terrinda came on the scene in 1982, the White Line had already given us its fair share of flamboyant style driven sportswear. Designed by the legendary Fila designer, Pierluigi Rolando, the White Line caused a seismic shift in the tennis world. Revived from the Fila archives courtesy of Nick Love & 80s Casual Classics, there's nothing that really comes close to the elitist appeal of the Terrinda when it comes to retro sportswear. Following the legacy of the Settanta Mk1 from 1976 and the Settanta MkII from 1980, the Settanta MkIII (Terrinda) took style driven sportswear to new levels with its biker jacket style collar, padded shoulder detail, white piping, Italian styling and luxurious velour fabric. The expensive price tag and colourful Italian styling made the Terrinda one of the most more desirable sportswear styles at the time. From the Wham Boys to playboys' like Tamer Hassan in The Business on the "Costa Del Crime", the Fila Terrinda really is the king of the White Line. The classic 80s track top is also now available in Pro Badge form at its spiritual home in a range of exclusive colourways via the links.
