The Sergio Tacchini Orion Biker Track Top first came on the colourful sportswear scene back in 1984, you also probably recognise it from Nick Love's The Firm from 2009.
Whether it's a classic
adidas trainer like the Samba Super, or a Tachini track top, there are certain colourways you will always associate with a particular sportswear style. That's where the whole fun started with sportswear in the 1980s. A trainer wasn't just simply all white anymore and neither was a track top. The 1980s saw a new colourful approach to sportswear. For the very first time it was style driven as well as performance driven. The two things hadn't really come together before but legendary Italian designers like Sergio Tacchini pioneered the new sporty casual look. Gone were the days of having separate clothes for working out in. With classic styles the Sergio Tacchini Orion Biker track top from 1984 it looked so damn cool you simply wanted to wear it all the time, not to mention the added street credibility it came with. Teamed up with a wedge haircut & some added swagger you instantly became Top Boy on the block, or so you thought! The classic track top now returns to 80s Casual Classics in that iconic sky blue colourway.

The Orion track top design goes back to the early 1980s with the Avalon Split Star, which was a more colourful take on the Sergio Tacchini Star as famously worn by the American tennis legend, John McEnroe. Originally available in the classic pastel colourways of sky blue & yellow, wearing the Avalon Split Star back then was a sign you had a bit of coin as these rare 'Made in Italy' releases were some of the most expensive, and sought after, sportswear styles available throughout the 1980s. Both colourways were also available in a much rarer 'Cafe Racer' version which featured a biker style collar just like the Fila Terrinda did. The 'Cafe Racer' version was a testament to Tacchini's overall vision of a fashionable sportswear brand. The pastel blue & yellow colourways of the iconic sportswear style quickly became a key look among the casual elite of the 1980s.

The Sergio Tacchini Avalon Split Star 'Cafe Racer' version, or Orion as it is now known, was also introduced to the big screen as a key wardrobe style in Nick Love's The Firm from 2009. Worn by Bex (Paul Anderson) the style featured in the scene where the lads play a prank on Dom (Callum McNab). You could say Paul Anderson pulled it off pretty well with his wedge haircut and casual bravado. The celebrated track top now returns to its spiritual home in the original 'Cafe Racer' form. Highlights include the iconic biker collar, embroidered Sergio Tacchini branding to the chest as well as two side slip pockets.
