adidas Super Samba Black

The adidas Samba Super Is An OG Indoor Training Shoe From The 1980s

The adidas Samba Super is a classic 5-a-side trainer that reminds us of furry footballs, Graeme Sounes style moustaches and them super tight shiny nylon adidas shorts.

If you did a Family Fortunes style quiz on adidas trainers chances are the majority of people surveyed would mention the Samba. Arguably one of the most well known 3 stripes style of all time, the adidas Samba is actually older than The Beatles & The Rolling Stones. An original Adi Dassler design, the Samba’s heritage spans a staggering 70 plus years. The question really is what else has remained relevant for as long the Samba? As new fashion trends come and go the Samba still looks just as fresh as it did back in 1950. Perhaps the styling of the Samba might have changed from bootcut to tapered fits along its near century long lifeline, but the fact is no matter what we’re wearing on top the Samba still always look on point. Over the years there have been numerous different versions of the original Dassler silhouette such as the adidas Samba Millennium, the adidas Samba 85 & of course the the adidas Samba Super.

The original Samba trainer from the early 1950s was an all weather football trainer. Designed by Adi Dassler himself the Samba featured a bomb proof design that was ideal for foul weather conditions & frozen football pitches. Moving into the 1980s, at the peak of adidas affinity & one-upmanship, adidas introduced an updated version of the classic 1950s shoe. The adidas Samba Super was geared towards indoor training use. The classic 5-a-side trainer brings back fond memories of furry footballs, Graeme Sounes style moustaches and them super tight shiny nylon adidas shorts. If you played 5-a-side down at your local sports centre back in the 80s and 90s you know exactly what we’re talking about. Everyone had a pair of Samba Supers on simply because they were the best shoe for the job. They also looked pretty cool as well.
