The Patrick Rio trainer is a classic gum soled shoe that now lands at 80s Casual Classics in an exclusive claret & sky colourway.
Ever since we brought back that classic cagoule back in 2022 the response we've had to the re-launch of Patrick has been absolutely phenomenal. The revival release of the cagoule was closely followed by the footwear side of things with the re-launch of the Villan, the Liverpool, the Copenhagen & of course the Rio. It's probably fair to say the re-launch of Patrick at 80s Casual Classics has gone down an absolute storm with the original wearers from the golden era of one-upmanship as well as the next generation of casual trainer fans. Following on from the original re-release of the Patrick Rio trainer back in 2023 the coveted casual trainer now arrives in an exclusive claret & sky colourway which is sure to go down a treat with football fans of West Ham, Aston Villa, Burnley, Hearts, Scunthorpe, Weymouth, Cobh Ramblers, Galway, Trabzonspor & FC Rieti. If you grew up in the early 1980s and liked a kick about down the local park then the chances are you will have probably owned a pair, or desperately wanted a pair, of Patrick football boots. Simply put, every 80s kid wanted a bit of Patrick on their feet and it didn't really matter if the soles were studded or gum soled. Whether you grew up in Liverpool, Leeds, Leicester or London, Patrick's football boots and football trainers really were the talk of the playground. One of them very special OG football trainers was the Patrick Rio trainer which first came on the scene back in the early 1980s. Patrick gained its popularity in the UK courtesy of a football boot sponsorship deal with Kevin Keegan aka 'Mighty Mouse' in 1980. It wasn't just about football boots though. Patrick also introduced a range of gum soled football trainers that were not only as hard as nails but also looked great with a pair of jeans. Wearing trainers with jeans was the cool thing to do but in the UK having a pair of Patrick trainers took the trend to a whole new level. Patrick released numerous football style trainers during the early 1980s such as the Liverpool, the Villan, the Platini, the Rio & the Keegan King which all catered for the growing football style trainer trend.
