Patrick Villan Trainer

The Patrick Villan Trainer Returns

The good news for the OG Patrick fans is that the Villan now returns to its spiritual home for a very special release of the original 80s trainer.

Chances are if you were an 80s kid that liked Kevin Keegan, playing football & dressing casually you will have probably owned a pair, or desperately wanted a pair, of Patrick football boots. For Patrick it didn't just stop at football boots though. The brands popularity, courtesy of sponsorship deals with Kevin Keegan aka 'Mighty Mouse', also saw the brand release numerous footwear styles that would become the talk of the town, or in the case of Patrick the playground. Something like the equivalent of the Kick & the Samba to adidas, OG Patrick styles like the Liverpool & the Villan, were not only great for having a kick about in, they also looked pretty cool with a pair of jeans. As far as football inspired trainers were concerned it didn't really get much better with sturdy leather uppers and gum soles that looked just as good on a 5-a-side pitch as they did off it. The good news for the OG Patrick fans is that the Villan now returns to its spiritual home for a very special release of the original 80s trainer. Founded in 1892 by Patrice Beneteau, Patrick has been worn by everyone from Tour De France winners to a range of football royalty such as Kevin Keegan & 3 time Ballon d'Or winner, Michel Platini. The passion for Patrick in the UK really exploded when Kevin Keegan came back to the 1st Division from Hamburg to join Southampton in 1980. It wasn't just Keegan's perm that was iconic, it was also his sponsorship deals. Like a lot of the other big Casual styles at the time they were performance driven & were available in traditional sportswear stores. In the case of the Patrick it was the football connection. From the classic cagoule to OG trainers, everyone wanted a piece of the Patrick sportswear brand back in the 1980s.
