The Lacoste Bucket Hat is the ultimate in Casual headwear for the football festivities, fan-zones and festivals of the summer months.
You've probably seen the legendary shots of
Spike Island from 1990 which somehow managed to merge together the muddy rave fields of the late 80s & early 90s with the traditional rock 'n' roll arena. The Stone Roses may have been headlining the show on a man made, toxic-waste dump on the Mersey Estuary in Widnes, but it was the bucket hat that really stole the show. Literally everyone in the crowd was wearing one. What had originated as a hat for fisherman & farmers was now the official headwear of choice for ravers & rock 'n' rollers. Madchester had firmly stuck its euphoric gaze on the classic bucket hat and we've been lapping them up for the summer months ever since. No football festivities or festivals would be complete without the trusty tifter and when its comes to the classic crocodile it just doesn't really get much better. Simply put the Lacoste bucket hat is the ultimate in Casual headwear for the summer months.

The origins of Lacoste go all the way back to the 1930s with the legendary French tennis player Ren_ Lacoste. The crocodile logo brand was named after Lacoste who was as elegant off the court, as much as he was a warrior on it. Lacoste soon joined an elite class of sporting individuals who earned a reputable nickname. Hollywood actors like Steve McQueen and Clint Eastwood championed the whole preppy 'Ivy' look of the 1960s giving Lacoste a whole new elitist appeal. Moving into the late 1970s & early 80s, the French sportswear brand quickly gained the attention of the Casuals with its colourful styles & expensive price tag. The French streetwear connection of the classic crocodile really came into fruition in the mid 90s thanks to cult classics like La Haine which showcased the sportswear appeal of Lacoste on the inner-city Parisian banlieues.
