Patrick Villan Vinnie Jones

It's Been Emotional: Introducing the Patrick Villan Sportswear Collection

Ex-footballer and Hollywood hardman, Vinnie Jones, stars in the latest Patrick Villan campaign which features a collection of classic sportswear to celebrate the re-release of the legendary 80s trainer.

If you've been following 80s Casual Classics for the last 12 months you will have witnessed another sportswear revival project of ours. After previously reviving classic Italian sportswear brands such as Fila, Sergio Tacchini & Ellesse, 2022 saw us bring back the OG sportswear brand Patrick. Inundated from our customers with enquiries about archive styles like the classic Patrick Cagoule & the original Villan trainer from the 1980s, we worked exclusively with Patrick to bring back these icons for the modern day wearers. First came the Patrick Cagoule in early 2022 followed more recently with the re-release of the Patrick Villan trainer. The good news is the Villan trainer release doesn't just stop at the classic 80s trainer that every football crazed kid wanted, we're also treated to a very special sportswear collection featuring the ex-footballer and Hollywood hardman, Vinnie Jones. The Patrick Villan collection is now brought to life courtesy of the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels & Snatch star. Funnily enough Vinnie was still playing at Non-League level for Wealdstone around the time the Villan trainer was first introduced before joining the Defensive ranks at Wimbledon in the First Division in 1986. Shot on location at a classic British snooker hall, which is typically the kind of place you might run into an hardman like Mr Jones, the Villan sportswear collection oozes all the British Casual charm. With a Villan trainer inspired collection of black & gold, we are treated to a selection of classic sportswear styles including a funnel neck track top, a classic 80s style cagoule, a quarter zip top and a graphic t-shirt. Each style features gold Patrick logos, drawing inspiration from the branding found on the original Villan trainer from the early 1980s. About Patrick: Founded in 1892 by Patrice Beneteau, Patrick has been worn by everyone from Tour De France winners to a range of football royalty such as Kevin Keegan & 3 time Ballon d'Or winner, Michel Platini. The passion for Patrick in the UK really exploded when Kevin Keegan came back to the 1st Division from Hamburg to join Southampton in 1980. It wasn't just Keegan's perm that was iconic, it was also his sponsorship deals. Like a lot of the other big Casual styles at the time they were performance driven & were available in traditional sportswear stores. In the case of the Patrick it was the football connection. From the classic cagoule to OG trainers, everyone wanted a piece of the Patrick sportswear brand back in the 1980s.
