Even though the colour lemon wasn't an original colourway of the legendary Fila Terrinda, the citrus inspired hue has always had a strong connection to the Casual scene.
Whether it was a Lacoste IZOD cardigan in lemon,
a pastel Lacoste polo shirt in lemon or a Pringle argyle knit in lemon, it was as though lemon was the Casual colourway of choice for everything apart from the Terrinda. Even the physcotic Begby played by Robert Carlyle in Danny Boyle's Trainspotting from 1996 liked a bit of the lemon lustre with his classic V-neck style & "come and have a go" pool cue stance. Then there's Bex played by Paul Anderson from the Firm from 2009 who also had a partial likening for lemons with his R-White's Lemonade and of course the iconic argyle knitwear from the Lips nightclub scene. Whether its Scottish knitwear intended for some birdies on the golf course or a pique polo shirt for centre court, you can't really beat a bit of the citrus colourway. The more you think about it the Casual connection to the citrus inspired hue goes back a lot further than what you probably thought. Following in the footsteps of the Settanta Mk1 from 1976 and the Settanta MkII from 1980, the Settanta MkIII or the Terrinda as it more commonly known, took style driven sportswear to all new levels with its biker jacket style collar, padded shoulder detail, white piping, Italian styling and luxurious velour fabric. Born out of Pier Luigi Rolando's legendary White Line collection the Terrinda was released at the pinnacle of colourful sportswear in 1982. Just like the rest of the White Line, the Terrinda was based around the concept of style driven sportswear, like nothing seen before with its hefty price tag and Playboy association courtesy of Bjorn Borg it was an obvious choice for the young Casuals who were looking to make their mark on the catwalks of the train stations & the terraces. Having a Terrinda in your wardrobe back then was serious stuff which is why it continues to be one of our most talked about styles of all time.
