The Farah Hopsack pant is probably just about as iconic as its gets when it comes to the original clothes worn by the Casuals in the late 70s & early 80s.
There were quite a few brands around in the Casual heydays of the late 1970s & early 1980s that were worn in the playgrounds as well as the local youth clubs. Farah was certainly one of them. A crossover brand from sixth form college to catching the bus into town with your mates, it seems every original Dresser has some sort of story about the Farah Hopsack pant. A smarter alternative to denim or cords, a pair of Farah's could be worn for school as well as the terraces and their classic slim fit just looked the bollocks with a pair of Borg Elite's. Worn by the original Rude Boys, the Dressers, the Casuals & the 90s Britpoppers, the Farah Hopsack pant now arrives at its spiritual home as part of a very special 80s Casual Classics collaboration. It's probably fair to say that this special release won't be hanging forever.

Originating in Texas back in the 1920s as a workwear brand, it was Farah's rebirth in the 1970s here in the UK that really gave the brand its subcultural connection. Famed for its F tab branding, slim fits and signature hopsack canvas trousers, Farah became the 'go to' style for the young Casuals and 80s youth. School trousers for the discerning dressers, the original hopsack pant could be worn with argyle knitwear, track tops & classic Casual footwear like a pair of Kickers or trainers. Although there seems to be some debate as to whether Farah's were more of a Southern thing, like for example brands like Pringle, there is no denying the cult like status of Farah to the UK's Casual scene of the late 1970s & early 1980s.
