The Ellesse Rimini is an original tennis style from the early 1980s which now arrives in polo shirt form just in time for the holiday & festival season.
As you probably already know we're big fans of track tops transitioning into polo shirts here at 80s Casual Classics. As with a lot of the classic 80s tennis stuff worn by the likes of John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg & Guillermo Vilas it was style driven just as much as it was performance. A polo shirt was usually released to match the design of the track top, and vice versa. For example the Young Line polo shirt from Sergio Tacchini accompanied their Masters track top & the Settanta polo shirt from Fila accompanied their
Settanta track top. For Ellesse they had classic tennis style like the Vilas which were available in both track top & polo shirt form. What's always been really great for us working with classic 80s sportswear brands like Ellesse is reviving original tennis styles from the archives. The Rimini is one of them very special archive styles which now arrives in polo shirt form just in time for the holiday & festival season.

First released in 1982, the original Ellesse Rimini track top was born in a golden era of casual sportswear. Thanks to sportswear endorsements with tennis legends such as Boris Becker, Chris Evert and Guillermo Villas, Ellesse made sportswear cool, fresh and vibrant unlike anything seen before it. The archive style was revived courtesy of 80s Casual Classics in 2010 after we were approached by the Italian sportswear brand to re-introduce a collection of iconic 80s styles following the release of The Firm in 2009. The demand for the Rimini was absolutely huge thanks to appearances on Paul Anderson in the opening scene in full track suit form.
