Before the originals line came on the scene the only place to get your hands on the classic trefoil stuff was vintage sportswear stores. Something which the likes of Damon Albarn championed throughout
Cool Britannia with classic track tops that were straight out of 1982. Thanks to the introduction of the Originals line in the late 90s, the classic trefoil badge of the 1970s & the 1980s was revived, bringing back the vintage adidas styles from the golden era of 3 stripes. The classic adidas Cagoule was one of them of the very special 3 stripes silhouettes which still remains at the very top of our beloved trefoil toggery. The Originals line has allowed modern day wearers to access OG styles like the classic cagoules from the 1970s & the 1980s without a vintage store in sight. As much as we love vintage sportswear, it's always better to have something new and when we're talking about vintage adidas what better than having a piece of classic 3 stripes that hasn't been sat collecting dust in someone's wardrobe for the last 40 years. The cagoule's connection to the Casual subculture of the UK is just as big as any argyle knitwear, tennis trainers or Bjorn Borg endorsed sportswear. The connection started in places like Liverpool where precipitation is above the national average which in layman's terms basically means it pisses it down the majority of the year. Whilst many of the traditional scarf wearing football fans might have kept dry through umbrellas and other types of outdated outerwear for the Casuals this simply didn't fly. Worn with a pair of jeans and trainers, the cagoule look was fresh but also functional. The cagoule not only looked on point but also kept you dry when you needed it to. Notable cagoule brands of the original Casual era included the likes of adidas, Lacoste, Peter Storm, Patrick & K-Way. For the Casuals the classic cagoule was the absolute the daddy when it came waterproof wares.
