The adidas Run 70s Takes us Back To The Golden Era of Trefoil Running Trainers

The adidas Run 70s trainer is an archive inspired runner from the legendary German sportwear brand that features their latest Cloudfoam sole technology.

As much as running may have come back in a big way for its latest revival of community runs, inner city run clubs of coffee stops & the very latest footwear innovation, it was the 1970s where running really gained the status it holds today. The 1970s saw a seismic shift in traditional trainer designs thanks to the 'running boom' of the era as the big sportswear brands battled it out for the centre folds of the worlds most respected running magazines. The late 70s alone saw OG runners like the Nike Waffle, the PUMA Easy Rider, the adidas SL72, the Brooks Vantage & the New Balance 320 to name a few make their way onto the shelves of the sportswear stores across the globe. Although the adidas Run 70s trainer might not have been one of the original runners from the magical 70s era, you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise.

Throughout the 1970s adidas alone introduced some of their most celebrated runners of all time during this heavily running focused era. For example the German sportswear brand gave us all time classics like the Marathon in 1979, the SL72 in 1972, the Country in 1973, the Nite Jogger in 1976 & the TRX Competition in 1979 to name a few. Giving a nod to the legendary running trainers from 'die marke mit den 3 streifen' this latest adidas Run 70s trainer has all the hallmarks of the classic trefoil trainers from the era. Taking colourway inspiration from classic adidas runners such as the Country, the adidas Run 70s takes us back to the golden era of trefoil running trainers.

Featuring textile uppers & suede overlays the archive inspired runner is all about comfort thanks to the addition of a Cloudfoam midsole. Straight out of the German sportswear brands R&D (research & development) department, Cloudfoam was designed to make the wearer feel like they are walking on air, hence the name, utilising purpose built foam padding technology. Other highlights of the release includes the classic 3 stripes to the sidewalls, adidas branding to the tongue & a 70s inspired gum rubber grip outsole for some extra retro appeal.
