The adidas Continental 80 'Stripes' trainer is updated with the iconic 3 stripes in some 80s inspired hues for the latest season.
Since its re-release back in 2018 the adidas Continental 80 trainer has become a bit of a staple on the ever evolving sneaker scene. Something like the Reebok equivalent of the Club C 85, the Continental 80 is clear proof just how much we (still) love that classic 80s trainer aesthetic. Once a re-release comes back on the market its shelf life is usually around 2 years (at best), however with the Continental 80 its now 4 years since it was revived from the 3 stripes archive. The popularity of the classic 80s tennis shoe is clear and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down anytime soon. Capturing the old skool look of the 1980s, the original European exclusive is now given the classic 3 stripes treatment with the introduction of the adidas Continental 80 'Stripes' trainer. Prior to its re-release back in 2018, even the die hard adidas fans out there probably didn't really know too much about the Continental. First released back in the late 1980s the Continental followed in the footsteps of other classic adidas tennis shoes like the Stan Smith, the Grand Slam & Rod Laver. However, there was something that little bit different about the Continental 80. Aesthetically It looked more like the adidas Powerphase trainer which was also released around the same time. Although the Continental claimed to be a tennis shoe, its pretty clear that adidas were going for that classic 80s fitness shoe vibe. An exclusive 'Made in France' archive trainer, the Continental featured the signature green & red trim to the sidewalls as oppose to the traditional 3 stripes with a perforated footbed for extra breathability during exercise. Capturing all that OG fitness trainer goodness of the 1980s, the adidas Continental is now updated with the iconic 3 stripes in some 80s inspired hues for the latest season. Featuring white tumbled leather uppers with French terry towelling to the inner collar as well as an added EVA insert to the midsole for added comfort. The trainer is offered up in a clean white & blue colourway, finished off with the all important trefoil branding to the tongue and sides for the ultimate retro sportswear look. Probably one of the most versatile trainers out there the Continental will look great with anything from sweat shorts to jeans for a more "casual" look.
