The Reebok Campio XT Draws Inspiration From Retro Football Trainers

The Reebok Campio XT trainer is an archive inspired silhouette which gives a nod to classic football trainers from the golden era of T-toe's and gum soles.

On first glimpse you'd be forgiven for thinking the Reebok Campio XT trainer was some sort of archive shoe from the 1970s from the Bolton born sportswear brand. The thing is it isn't. It's actually a brand new Reebok silhouette and although it certainly might of only just hit the shelves this year, it's sporty retro aesthetic could easily be confused for a past release from Reebok. The Campio XT is Reebok's very own version of the classic T-toe, gum soled football trainer and now arrives at 80s Casual Classics.

When we think of Reebok's heritage it's usually the classic 'all leather' stuff from the 1980s like the Club C or the Workout. Then there's the OG basketball silhouettes from the 1990s like for example the Pump or the Kamikazi. The 90s also saw Reebok tap into the newly found Premier League with endorsement deals with Ryan Giggs and his iconic Sidewinder football boots. They also famously sponsored Bolton Wanderers in the late 90s, with Bolton's 'Reebok Stadium' and kit sponsorship deal when the 'Trotters' played in the Premier League. As far as the stereotypical gum soled football trainer is concerned, Reebok did have a few notable styles like the Reebok Hammer Street which was originally released back in 1993. Reebok's football connection also continued onto the fans of France 98_ with the classic late 90s style of Reebok Classics & Hackett polo shirts.
