PUMA Palermo Vintage Caramel Vanilla

The PUMA Palermo Trainer Gets The Super Sweet Caramel Treatment

The PUMA Palermo caramel & vanilla trainer puts a super sweet spin on the Sicilian named suede silhouette.

PUMA’s recent renaissance owes a lot to classic suede silhouettes like the Palermo, an OG style that has actually become one of the most popular trainers of 2024. Classic gum soled suede trainers have been all the rage over the last few years as a younger demographic finds a new found love for the simple suede silhouette, it’s also re-ignited the passion for the original wearers. The PUMA Palermo trainer is a great example of an OG terrace silhouette from the early 1980s. As we enter a new appreciation for all things retro & PUMA, the Palarmo was originally part of the German sportswear brands very own city series which looked to the sun-drenched city on the Italian island, Sicily. Re-released back in 2021 the Palermo has seen various colourway releases as well as becoming one of our best selling styles. For November 2024 the super suede silhouette now arrives in an updated caramel & vanilla colourway for a super sweet spin on the OG terrace icon.

Born out of the Dassler brothers bitter rivalry, the PUMA Palermo was first introduced in the Casual peacocking heydays of the early 1980s. Just like adidas released a range of Continental inspired trainers with cities and places for their names, so did PUMA. Even though Rudolph and Adi had sadly both passed away in the 1970s, the one-upmanship continued well into the 1980s. Following its original release in the early 1980s the Palermo quickly found its new home on the UK’s homegrown Casual scene. Its rarity & continental charm fuelled the one-upmanship of “casual” trainers of the era with many die-hard PUMA collectors citing the Palermo as one of their top all time silhouettes. Famous for its oversized label, suede panelling & overlays, the Palermo had a unique look when compared to the other gum soled “suede” silhouettes that had come before it.
