The Fila Vintage Courto Mk2 track top is an original White Line design which was famously worn by the Argentinean tennis legend, Guillermo Vilas.

When it comes to classic Fila tennis gear from the 1970s & the 1980s, the Fila Vintage Courto Mk2 track top is certainly up there as one of the greatest. Sitting alongside the likes of the Settanta & the Terrinda in the Fila archive hall of fame, the Courto is just one of them OG styles that couldn't be replicated today. There's something still very magical about the original White Line stuff which will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. A lot has changed in the world since Pier Luigi Rolando & Alessandro Galliano introduced the White Line to the tennis world. Social media, the way we now communicate, Podcasts, NFT's, Bitcoin, Trap music, but as far as modern day sportswear designs go, the Courto still looks just as fresh today as it did back in 1979. If another Fila designer tried to one-up the Courto today with a brand new design could they pull it off? Probably not. When the White Line first came on the scene back in 1973 the tennis stars of the era were more like rock 'n' roll stars. Combining the future playboys of centre court with some of the most colourful tennis gear you had ever laid eyes on was always going to be a recipe for success. Sticking two fingers up to traditional tennis whites, the White Line merged Italian panache with style driven sportswear, something which had never been done before. The end result was a mixture of bold colours & designer tennis gear worn by the tennis elite. Thanks to endorsements with the likes of Bjorn Borg & Guillermo Vilas, the White Line quickly became some of the hottest sportswear available at the time. At the end of the day who didn't want to dress like a champion in sporty Italian designer gear?
