The Benneton Rugby Shirt Arrives in Some Fresh New Colourways

The celebrated Casual style from Benetton now arrives in some fresh new colourways such as mint and lavender for the latest season.

You might remember back in 2019 when we brought back that iconic Benetton Rugby Shirt. After literally hundreds of enquiries about a revival release we worked exclusively with Benetton to bring back the much celebrated Casual style and the response was insane. Our Glaswegian fans went absolutely mental for the release with the Celtic side of the Scottish city opting for the green colourway and the Rangers side opting for the blue. We even featured in the Scottish Sun with the headline "Celtic and Rangers fans snap up more than 1,000 retro Benetton rugby tops loved by 1980s football casuals". You could say the revival release was a hit! The good news is we've got even more colourways of the classic rugby shirt that look just as fresh today as it did back in the 1980s. Started back in 1965 in Ponzano Veneto, the Italian brand Benetton became a massive hit throughout the 1980s thanks to colourful marketing campaigns and the introduction of the 'United Colors of Benetton'. The brand became a hit with the Casuals and the Paninaro for its crisp, colourful and youthful style. Throughout the 80s to the early noughties the brand teamed up with the famous Italian photographer, Oliviero Toscani, for a series of controversial adverts, raising awareness of global issues such as poverty, racism, disease and disability. If you've ever been to a museum or exhibition that focuses solely on football and fashion then the chances are there was a Benetton rugby shirt on display. It's one of a handful of classic Casual styles that everyone associates with the original scene. Up until its recent revival, courtesy of 80s Casual Classics, the style had become a collectors grail piece with resale values fetching upwards of '500.
