The adidas Jeans MkII Trainer Returns in Blue & Green

Following numerous re-releases over the last few years, the adidas Jeans MKII trainer now returns in an updated Blue/Green colourway.

Those who know their Malmo from their Munchen will know just how significant the adidas Jeans MKII trainer was to the UK's original Casual scene of the late 1970s & early 1980s. It wasn't about fancy marketing gimmicks or hyped up raffle releases, it was simply about the birth of the crossover from performance to lifestyle trainers. It was OG adi silhouettes that championed the whole denim with trainer trend, kicking off with the introduction of the Jeans MKI trainer back in 1975. As bell bottom flares transitioned into straight legged Levi's, the late 1970s said goodbye to Disco and hello to Hip Hop, Post Punk, New Wave & Two-Tone. It was the adidas Jeans MKII trainer that really captured the hearts of the growing Casual movement. It was 1979, rare adidas trainers from Europe were all the rage and the Jeans MKII couldn't of come at a better time. Drawing inspiration from the early SL ranges from the 1970s, the adidas Jeans trainer was well ahead of its time. Similar in appearance to the SL72 trainer, the adidas Jeans trainer debuted 3 years later in 1975. The MKI jeans trainer took its name from the growing jeans with trainers trend, something which Nike would also jump on 1 year later in 1976 with Farah Fawcett famously modelling a pair of Nike Cortez whilst riding a skateboard in Charlies Angels. However, it was the second release of the Jeans that really struck a cord with the growing Casual movement of the late 1970s. adidas jeans mkII dark blue green Above: The adidas Jeans MKII trainer in dark blue/green trainer now available from 80s Casual Classics. The adidas Jeans MKII was easily the most sought after of the two, the main notable difference was the introduction of the heel stabiliser as well as the signature front a rear bumpers. Originally available in a turquoise green colourway the Jeans MKII was then re-released in 1982, once again capturing the hearts of every young Casual kid. The main notable difference on the 82' release was the introduction of a trefoil tread on the sole which obviously got people talking. Re-released back in 2015, the adidas Jeans MKII trainer has once again become a go to 3 stripes style among those in the know. adidas jeans mkII dark blue green Above: The adidas Jeans MKII trainer in dark blue/green trainer now available from 80s Casual Classics.
