This latest adidas Hamburg Green Oxide trainer gives a nod to the coveted City Series & the super scarce 3 stripes styles from the continent in the 1980s.
From its humble origins as an original City Series trainer back in the early 1980s, the adidas Hamburg trainer was born out of performance focused designs, one-upmanship and a subcultural switch of wearing jeans with trainers. We are of course talking about that whole "Casual" thing which spread across the UK like wildfire in the late 1970s & early1980s. With its super rare Italian sportswear, unknown adidas trainers, wedge haircuts and a music soundtrack courtesy of bands like Joy Division, The Jam & Soft Cell.
As young Casuals introduced super scarce trainers from the continent their desirability & demand in the the UK only increased further. Before the days of raffles & resale, young Casuals would bring back adidas trainers that were only available in countries like Germany, Holland & France. One of them original original "Casual" trainer styles to be born out of the Continental connection is the adidas Hamburg trainer which now arrives at 80s Casual Classics in an updated colourway with the adidas Hamburg Oxide Green trainer.

Following on from its re-release from the adidas archives back in 2014 the adidas Hamburg has become a mainstay on the 3 stripes trainer scene. From GORE-TEX versions to exclusive 'Made in Germany' versions it would be fair to say the Hamburg is probably just about as good as it gets when it comes to classic 3 stripes. Originally released back in 1982 at the pinnacle of Casual fashion as part of the original European City Series, the adidas Hamburg looked to the North German port city for its title. Just like a lot of the classic adidas trainers from the same era the Hamburg was also made in Yugoslavia before adidas switched manufacturing to Asia. Originally available in navy with white 3 stripes the Hamburg has seen various colourway versions since its revival from the 3 stripes archives. Designed as a performance training shoe the Hamburg was an instant success with the style driven Casuals and simply looked great with a pair of jeans in typical Casual style.
