Football rivalries, they're usually (pretty) local and things can get a little heated. Whether it's religion, different parts of a city or an old country feud, you can't really beat the atmosphere of a packed out stadium on derby day. From Milan's notorious "Derby della Madonnina" to the bitter North West derby between Man United & Liverpool which was originally fuelled by shipping canals & where its cargo went. Then there's the Dockers Derby of London's East & South between West Ham & Millwall, which let's just say can get a little bit naughty. Football fans have been going mad for derbies since the football leagues started & if there's one local derby that takes the biscuit, or in this case a shortbread, it's got to be Celtic vs Rangers. More commonly known as the Old Firm Derby, one of the most heated football matches is now brought to life courtesy of our good friends at Weekend Offender.

The name itself can be traced back to 1904 with the geographic divide of Glasgow's Protestant & Catholic areas fuelling the support for their beloved clubs. Celtics roots are firmly within the Irish Catholic supporters of Glasgow's inner city region. Rangers on the other hand favour their English protestant roots of the city. With religion at the very backbone of the Glasgow clubs the Old Firm is nothing quite like any other football match.
