"As far as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster", Ray Liotta's opening lines of Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas from 1990 which is now brought to life with the Weekend Offender Henry t-shirt.
Inspired by the 1985 'Wiseguy' book from Nicholas Pileggi, Goodfellas saw Martin Scorsese bring to life the true story of Henry Hill from his working class upbringing in Brooklyn to becoming a prominent figure in New York's Lucchese crime family. Played by the late Ray Liotta, Goodfellas follows the ups and the downs of the half Irish/half Italian mobster, his involvement in the Lufthansa heist and joining the FBI's witness protection programme. Also starring the likes of Robert De Niro & Jo Pesci, Goodfellas really set the bar as far as Gangster films were concerned. Even though Henry Hill was never a 'made man', mafia terminology for an official member, his story would become one of the greatest crime drama's of all time. The legendary Goodfellas character is now brought to life courtesy of our goods friends at Weekend Offender with the Weekend Offender Henry t-shirt.

Sadly on May 26th 2022 Ray Liotta who played Henry Hill in Goodfellas passed away at the age of 67. Born in Newark, New Jersey (where the majority of The Sopranos was set), Liotta started acting whilst studying at the University of Miami in the 1970s. After graduation Liotta moved to New York where played the role of Joey Perrini in the American soap opera 'Another World'. His first major movie break through came alongside Melanie Griffith & Jeff Daniels in the 1986 film 'Something Wild' which saw Liotta receive a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Following the success of Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas from 1990 Liotta has played everyone from Frank Sinatra in The Rat Pack (1998) to George Jung's father in Blow (2001) to FBI officials in Hannibal (2001). Liotta also became the voice of Tommy Vercetti for GTA Vice City as well as featuring as an animated version of himself in Bee Movie. If there was one film that really stood out for Liotta it was arguably Goodfellas for his impressive re-enactment of the Lucchese crime family associate.
