Barbour Riverdale Jacket

The Barbour Riverdale is Engineered For a Water Repellent Finish

The Barbour Riverdale jacket features a showerproof polyamide fabric making it the ultimate festival ready piece for them dreaded sudden downpours.

As much as we might be (currently) in the midst of a full blown heat wave, the British summer is generally a mixed bag of rain, that fine rain that soaks you through & sunshine. As festival season goes full circle to start another summer circuit of Oasis reunion gigs, Glastonbury & some of the smaller more intimate gatherings, many of us are looking to escape a world of 'breaking news' & re-calibrate our inner souls to what really matters most and that's having a few shandy's & a sing-a-along to your favourite band. There's nothing quite like a good festival, but as far as planning what to wear to look on point it can be a bit of a nightmare. You basically need clothes for hot summer weather, and clothes if it starts pissing down. The latter is where a trusty lightweight, and showerproof, jacket like this latest Riverdale jacket from Barbour is the ultimate bit of kit for the festival season.

Barbour's origins go way back to 1894 and South Shields in the North East of England. Originally founded by John Barbour, it was actually John's grandson who developed the brand's signature waxed cotton fabric for motorcycle uniforms. The durable waxed cotton fabric was robust and water repellent making it ideal for speedy road use. Barbour motorcycle jackets from the 1950s also had a tartan lining which added extra warmth for its wearer. The colourful Scottish cloth provided excellent insulation for winter road use, as well as extra padding for the garment. Over the years Barbour has become a highly respected British heritage brand & an all time dressers favourite.
