The Sergio Tacchini Wilander track top is an original 80s style as famously worn by the Swedish tennis legend, Matts Wilander.
The Sergio Tacchini Wilander track top ticks all the boxes when it comes to the classic 80s sportswear styles. Just about as good as it gets as far as OG tennis gear goes, the Wilander made its grand return earlier in the year and was a huge success. Rich in tennis nostalgia, the Wilander marked the next generation of Tacchini designs as the Italian sportswear brand moved into the mid 1980s. The original McEnroe designs like the Dallas and the Ghibli of the early 1980s had already stamped the ST brand on centre court with tennis tournaments becoming more like highly profiled fashion shows. Originally worn by the Swedish tennis legend, Matts Wilander, the signature stripes of the Wilander were no different when it came to expensive casual sportswear worn by the elite.

The French Open in 1985 was a great example of the style driven sportswear that was worn by the players of the era. Ivan Lendl wore his signature adidas Argyle polo and Matts Wilander wore the signature stripes of the Wilander polo as the two tennis legends stepped onto centre court. As the big sportswear brands' battled it out on the courts for the next big endorsement deal, Wilander was the next in line after McEnroe to take Tachini to the finals of the major tennis tournaments. The former World No.1 won the French Open & Australian Open both 3 times between 1982 & 1988 as well as the US Open in 1988. The Wilander was the start of Tacchini experimenting more with their designs which would later inspire some of the early 90s styles as worn by the US tennis legend, Pete Sampras.

'There's over 4000 Germans booked in for Europe this summer so unless our 3 firms go together they're gunna run us all over.' Paul Anderson may have featured in the nitty gritty UK crime drama about gang culture in inner city London titled Top Boy back in 2013, but in Nick Love's 'The Firm' from 2009, Anderson literally was the top boy. Bex played by Anderson can be seen wearing the iconic Wilander style in the scene where all the top boys meet to discuss joining forces for the Euros. A key wardrobe style from the cult classic. The Sergio Tacchini Wilander track top now returns to its spiritual home in an updated white/sky/navy colourway. Featuring the signature contrasting stripes across the shoulder & left arm, the Wilander is revived in all its OG glory. Other highlights include embroidered ST branding to the left chest & side slip pockets to the sides to get your ultimate sportswear swagger on. Shop the classic 80s track top style now via the links.
