The PUMA Weekend trainer is an OG casual shoe from the 1970s that is now revived from the Herzogenaurach archives for 2022.
Following on from other OG releases like the Arizona,
the Vlado Stenzel & the Army trainer, PUMA are back with another revival silhouette for 2022. The PUMA Weekend OG trainer revives the classic casual shoe from the archives for a very special re-release. Located in the German town of Herzogenaurach in Bavaria (where both the Dassler brothers were born) the PUMA archive is like an Aladdin's cave for the OG trainer fans. With deadstock trainers & running technology that never quite made it to production alongside pictures of Diego Maradona & sponsored sports memorabilia from the Bundesliga. Headed up by none other than Mr Puma himself, Helmut Fischer, the archive has played a pivotal role from deadstock inspiration to revival releases from the late 1970s. Drawing inspiration from an original deadstock style from the archives, the German sportswear brand have now re-introduced the PUMA Weekend OG trainer.

With a growing sibling rivalry, PUMA & adidas went head to head as the Dassler brothers battled it out on the tracks, the courts & the football pitches of Europe. Ironically for the trainer world, the Bavarian brothers' bickering was actually a good thing. It gave us some of the greatest ever trainers of all time such as the Gazelle from Adi & the Suede from Rudolph (to name a few). As each brother tried to one up each other the competition of who could create the best performance trainers did exactly that on both sides of the Dassler brother rivalry. Although it remains a relatively unknown shoe, the PUMA Weekend trainer is a great example of just how much influence the Dassler brothers really had on the trainer world. With no formstrip the no frills Weekend trainer was Rudolph's introducing into the lifestyle market where performance shoes were becoming more popular for leisurely use.

Now revived in all its OG glory, the popular terrace trainer returns for 2022. Ditching the traditional formstrip for chestnut brown suede uppers the Weekend is a classic leisure shoe which was originally released back in the 1970s. A chunky textured rubber midsole adds a vintage feel with neutral heel panels and PUMA branding in gold foiling to the sidewalls.
