Running trainer technology has changed dramatically over the last 40 years with modern day innovation the original models from the 80s could probably only dream of. As basic, to an extent, the OG runners of yesteryear now may appear in a world of PEBA-based hyperfoams, nitrogen-infused midsoles & curved plates, it's no longer about the technology when it comes to the classics. When it comes to legendary New Balance silhouettes like the 574, we're not buying into this whole running for croissants & coffee trend somewhere in Hackney Wick, we're buying into the heritage of what is probably the most respected retro runner of all time. Will people be wearing Adios Pro's & Helion HF's in 40 years time as a lifestyle trainer? Probably not. Will people still be wearing the 574 trainer from New Balance in another 40 years? It's probably worth a few quid if you were a betting man. The running icon now returns to its spiritual home in an updated Nordic Green colourway.

Whether it's the classic 'grey' colourway or part of an exclusive Stone Island collab, the 574 is one of them very special NB styles from a golden era of sole technology & 80s running nostalgia. Something like the equivalent of the Shadow to Saucony or the New York to adidas, the original "no fuss" running trainer set the bar for the running boom of the era becoming one of the most recognisable, and respected, New Balance silhouettes of all time. Marketed and designed solely as a 'no fuss' running shoe, the 574 became just as popular for every-day wear. Merging together the best bits from the 575 & the 576, the hybrid road/trail design of the 574 also utilised NB's revolutionary ENCAP sole technology which still remains a key feature of New Balance silhouettes today.

Reviving the original running silhouette from 1988, the New Balance 574 trainer now arrives in an updated nordic green colourway. Featuring a mixture of premium suede & mesh uppers with a padded ankle collar to the rear. ENCAP sole technology combines soft foam with a durable polyurethane rim for some classic cushioning alongside an extra grippy durable rubber outsole underfoot which gives a nod to the 574's original hybrid road/trail design. Finished off with the iconic 'N' branding to the sidewalls in white, the 574 trainer is now available from 80s Casual Classics via the links.
