The New Balance 574 trainer gets some added retro appeal with the classic gum sole across a collection of fresh new colourways that now land at 80s Casual Classics.
It seems that we'll be talking about New Balance revivals for the foreseeable future. After firmly stamping their ENCAP sole technology on the ever evolving trainer world, if there's one silhouette that's probably something like the equivalent of the Borg Elite to Diadora or
the Suede to PUMA, it's got to be the 574. Arguably one of the most popular & recognisable silhouettes from the Boston born sportswear brand, it's the 574 that seems to get all the love when it comes to the special releases from the latest Stone Island collaboration to the original Gum Sole Pack from 2014. After a more recent revival of all things New Balance it's the 574 that once again comes under the spotlight with the introduction of some fresh new colourways & some added retro appeal courtesy of the classic gum sole.

It was the 1980s fitness boom that saw a new demand like never before for running trainers with a seismic shift in running shoe technology. It was all about the sole technology with New Balance at the very forefront of the 80s trainer evolution. The decade saw some of the most iconic NB silhouettes of all time. In 1980 NB introduced the 620, closely followed by the 420 in 1982, the 670 in 1984, the 1300 in 1985 and then the New Balance 574 trainer in 1988. American marathon runner and New Balance athlete, Dick Beardsley, famously wore a pair of New Balance running trainers as he crossed the line for the Boston Marathon in 1982. Marketed and designed solely as a "no fuss" running shoe, the 574 became just as popular for every-day wear. Merging together the best bits from the 575 & the 576, the hybrid design of the 574 also utilised NB's revolutionary ENCAP sole technology which still remains a key feature of New Balance silhouettes today.

Re-introduced in some fresh new colourways such as bone white & burgundy the celebrated 80s runner features a mixture of premium suede and textile uppers alongside the world renowned ENCAP sole technology. The classic NB silhouette is finished off with the famous 'N' branding to the side walls & tongue tab as well as a gum sole for that classic 80s trainer feel.
