New Balance 327 New Spruce trainer

Step Into Spring With The New Balance 327 'New Spruce' Trainer

Spruce up your Spring trainer collection with this latest 327 colourway from New Balance with the 'old meets new' hybrid runner.

Ever since the New Balance 327 trainer landed the 80s showroom a few years back it's been causing quite a stir. Packing all that 70s runner charm, which let's be honest when it comes to classic creps you can't really beat, with an updated spin the 327 trainer has become a bit of staple here at 80s Casual Classics. Giving a nod to the 70s running nostalgia of short shorts, marathons & moustaches, the 327 has all the hallmarks of an original retro runner from the era. Stepping into the slightly lighter, perhaps slightly warmer spring months it's probably time to treat yourself to some new trainers. If classic 70s creps are your thing, that are also comfy as hell, then this latest 327 'New Spruce' colourway from New Balance will be right up your street. The New Balance 327 trainer was the brain child of the Manchester based creative & designer, Charlotte Lee. Drawing inspiration from the New Balance 320 & the Super Comp, two original running styles that were released back in the 1970s. The 320 first came on the running trainer scene back in 1976 and was the very first model that not only used numbers for the name but also the iconic N logo. The 320 was an instant hit and was also voted the number one running shoe by Runner's World Magazine. The fact that Tom Fleming wore a pair of 320's when he won the New York Marathon in 1975 might have helped out a bit as well. The New Balance Super Comp from 1978 was geared up more for synthetic track and road use with its air sprung sole unit. The 327 clearly takes it sole design from the grippy rubber studded outsole of the Super Comp. The 'old meets new' hybrid runner now arrives back at its spiritual home in a seasonal 'new spruce' colourway. Featuring textile uppers & suede overlays in 'new spruce' inspired from the NB archives, the end result is a contemporary take on a classic. Highlights include the iconic N logo to the sidewalls in white with a padded ankle collar & a super grippy, trail-inspired wrap around lug outsole which gives a nod to the original Super Comp trainer from the late 1970s. Finished off with a chunky EVA midsole which ensures superior cushioning the 327 is a must have daily silhouette for your "casual" trainer rotation.
