The New Balance 327 trainer now arrives in an updated blue/white colourway, a hybrid runner which draws inspiration from the New Balance 320 & the New Balance Super Comp.
Those who know their 577's from their 997's will know just how significant the numbers really are to New Balance models. Ever since the first 320 came on the scene back in 1976 it's always been all about the numbers. With various models to suit varied runners' needs from high mileage to extra shock absorbency for heavier frames, New Balance don't really mess about when it comes to some of the greatest running trainers the world has probably ever seen. The New Balance archive of model numbers, ENCAP sole cushioning & Rollbar technology have been worn by everyone from Bill Clinton to Bill Gates. Over the last 40 years the elitist appeal of wearing only the best footwear has transitioned from the tracks to the ever growing trainer scene. As far as classic runners are concerned it's all about that iconic NB logo and this latest New Balance 327 in blue & white packs all the usual retro runner charm from the Massachusetts brand.

First released back in 2020 the New Balance 327 was designed by the Manchester based creative & designer, Charlotte Lee. The concept was a hybrid trainer that was inspired by NB's vast archives but with a modern contemporary feel. Merging the old with the new, the design itself draws inspiration from New Balance 320 & the Super Comp, two original running styles that were released back in the 1970s.

The 320 first came on the scene back in 1976 and was the very first model that not only used numbers for the name but also the iconic N logo. The 320 was an instant hit and was also voted the number one running shoe by Runner's World Magazine. The fact that Tom Fleming wore a pair of 320's when he won the New York Marathon in 1975 might have helped out a bit as well. The New Balance Super Comp from 1978 was geared up more for synthetic track and road use with its air sprung sole unit. The 327 clearly takes it sole design from the grippy rubber studded outsole of the Super Comp.
