Lois: The King of Casual Cords
Share
When it comes to a pair of classic cords you cannot beat Lois, the original brand of the Casuals & the ultimate 80s brand.
Trousers, pants or kecks (if you're up North) are a key part to any outfit, style or subculture. B-boys had track pants as part of their full track suits, Mods wore slacks, Skinheads wore Sta-Prest trousers and Punks wore ripped jeans with safety pins. For the Casuals it was all about being "casual" and with that came a new wave of straight legged denim from brand's like Levi's & Lois. As much as the majority of gear worn by the Casuals was for playing for various sports in, the addition of jeans & cords in the trousers department created a unique "casual" look, putting a new designer sportswear spin on the whole 'jeans with trainers' trends of the late 1970s. When you speak to the original Casuals, some of which are now into their 60s, it's always the mention of Lois cords that re-ignites their original passion for dressing "casually".

What started out as a Spanish workwear brand in Valencia became a household name thanks to the rising casual movement and their desire for the finest threads. Drawing inspiration from the big American denim suppliers, brothers Joaquin and Manuel Saez Merino set out to create their own jeans. With football and tennis legends like Johan Cruyff and Bj_rn Borg sporting the brand it wasn't long before the Lois 'Bull' logo was seen parading about on a new wave of dressers and the rising casual subculture. If you were an original dresser of the 1980s, the chances are you had a pair of Lois Cords.
