The classic 80s cagoule is brought back to life courtesy of the French sportswear brand, Lacoste, with a modern spin on a lightweight packable jacket.
If you know your original 80s "casual" gear you will know there's a distinct, and unique style spread across footwear, apparel & accessories. Deer stalkers, tennis track tops, indoor court trainers specifically made for continental sports like handball & V-neck knitwear that came straight off the rails of the traditional sports stores. As far as outerwear is concerned it's got to be the classic cagoule. As much as the cagoule was really just an 80s thing, the Casuals made it their it very own. Some claim the cagoule thing originated in Merseyside with its Scandinavian like participation levels thanks to its proximity to the Irish sea. Sporting a sporty cagoule wasn't just a Casual thing, it was also functional. Wearing a donkey jacket on a League 1 dugout was yesterdays news as a "new wave" of disco boys entered the stadium with wedge haircuts & waterproof-wears. A key part of Casual fashion, the cagoule is now re-imagined courtesy of the French sportswear brand Lacoste with a lightweight packable jacket.

It was OG brands like Lacoste that really flew the flag for casual sportswear from the late 1970s onwards. Arguably one of the most sought after sportswear labels of the era, some young casuals even stitched fake crocodiles onto unbranded polo shorts to try and blag the real thing. Moody polos aside, the brand has gained a cult like following since the original casual era thanks to films like La Haine & the whole colour-blocking sportswear trends of the 90s. Like a badge of honour, the embroidered croc has remained a fan favourite long after the days of IZOD cagoules & 'Made in USA' knitted cardigans.

Throwing it back to the original styles of the golden era of one-upmanship & classic cagoules, Lacoste have now introduced a lightweight packable jacket. Featuring a lightweight polyamide ripstop fabric, in typical cagoule style, the packable jacket is the ultimate rig out for festival season & the forthcoming football festivities. As much as we might be enjoying some glorious sunshine here in the UK (currently) you know that can change like the drop of a hat. Great for sudden downpours and the onset of rain, the packable design can be easily stowed away in bags with features like a fixed hood, an adjustable toggle hem & a full front zip fastening for added function. Finished off with the iconic crocodile embroidered to the left chest the Lacoste lightweight packable jacket comes in a classic green colourway to add a bit of casual panache to your wardrobe.
