Fila Trailblazer Rave hiking boot

Rave On With The Fila Trailblazer

The Fila Trailblazer boot was a massive hit with the original ravers of the late 1980s & early 1990s & now arrives back at its spiritual home for 2024 in 5 different colourways.

When it comes to footwear & youth culture each has had its very own. The Skinheads had their Dr. Martens, the Mods had their Chelsea boots & the B-Boys had their Puma Suede's. Rave culture which swept the UK's countryside fields of the late 1980s & early 1990s was nothing quite like any subculture before it. Sounds of the Roland TR-808 drum machine combined with a new 'chemical' generation of baggy clothes and all night dancing to tunes from the likes of Altern-8 & Bizarre Inc put rave culture on a completely different level, literally. Style influences from The Happy Mondays & The Stone Roses, two Madchester bands which weren't technically rave, gave the rave scene a unique look of designer clothes, baggy jeans & footwear that could withstand the muddy fields of the Essex countryside or the hard concrete floors of Britain's desolate factories & warehouses. For the original ravers it was the Fila Trailblazer hiking boot. Worn by rave royalty like Keith Flint of The Prodigy & Shaun Ryder, the Trailblazer was a beefed up boot for busting out your best moves to Praga Khan.

Just like other sportswear brands around at the time, Fila were no one one trick pony. Following on from the success of their White Line tennis collection as worn by the likes of Bj'rn Borg throughout the 70s and 80s, Fila set out to diversify their ranges with performance led outdoors gear throughout the 1980s. From kitting out explorers like Reinhold Messner in 1986 with performance Fila kit as he reached the summit of Everest as well as the Swedish skier, Ingemar Stenmark, also in the same year, Fila had now stamped their iconic 'F' logo across a whole new world of performance apparel. The next chapter for the Italian sportswear brand saw an era of technical performance gear as well as new footwear silhouettes that could tackle the highest of peaks. Styles like the Fila Trailblazer were born, but it wasn't just the hardcore hikers of the world who would take note of the new trekking shoe. Highly respected in the UK rave circles, the Trailblazer was a hard as nails hiking boot that also looked the business with a pair of baggy jeans & a bucket hat.
