The Fila Tiebreak track top is an OG tennis style that was one of the very first designs to land on the prestigious White Line from the Italian designer Pier Luigi Rolando.
Enrico Frachey, who was the managing director of Fila at the time tapped up Pier Luigi Rolando to head up the White Line, which merged the lines between traditional tennis gear & Italian styling. As well as Rolanda, Frachey called up Alessandro Galliano. It was Galliano's role to work on the performance and the function of the designs, with the collection's name giving a nod to the traditional colour scheme of tennis apparel. However, the White Line was far from it. Kelly green's, bold red's and navy's combined with traditional tennis whites & Italian designer styling gave the White Line an edge like nothing the tennis world had seen before. OG styles like the Fila Tiebreak, or Oceana as it was also known, stuck two fingers up to the tennis elite putting just as much focus on function as style. As far as classic sportswear is concerned the White Line was a complete gamechanger.

The colourways of each design from the White Line were just as important as the designs themselves with the likes of the Tiebreak track top coming in various colourway options. It was the OG gardenia & red that was probably the most recognised colourway of them all. As famously worn by Lee Majors when he was captured running next to his then wife Farah Fawcett. Dubbed by the glossy media mags as "the jogging craze couple", the world famous photo really captured the celebrity appeal of Fila & the growing sportswear trend that started in the 1970s.

Following on from the success of other OG Fila styles like the Settanta from 1976, the Fila Tiebreak was also famously worn by original White Line wearers Bjorn Borg & Guillermo Vilas. The players' on court charisma and playboy lifestyles gave a whole new dimension to traditional sportswear with Fila's demand becoming just as big off the courts as it was on it. First introduced in 1978 the Tiebreak track top featured a varsity inspired design & was originally made in Italy, as was the majority of the original White Line stuff.
