Fila Mk1 Settanta: The Holy Grail of Casual Sportswear
One of the original releases from Pierluigi Rolando's prestigious White Line, the Fila Mk1 Settanta looks just as fresh today as it did back in the 1980s.
It might be nearly 50 years since the very first release of the Fila Mk1 Settanta courtesy of Pierluigi Rolando's highly celebrated White Line in 1976, but the Settanta still looks just as good today. A sportswear icon & one of the very first Bj'rn Borg (BJ) designs from the golden era of one-upmanship and casual fashion. The colourful designs of the original White Line teamed up with the highly profiled playboy lifestyle of Borg put Fila in a league of its own as far as sportswear was concerned. Although sportswear had already started to make a name for itself in the 1970s, the Settanta really set the bar after its original release in 1976. Its unique green, red & navy colourways, exclusivity and the expensive 'Made in Italy' price tag made the Settanta one of the most desirable track tops of the late 1970s & early 1980s. After various releases since its revival back in the late noughties, the Settanta has remained one of our all time best sellers. The original Mk1 version now arrives back at its spiritual home in the classic colourways.

Originally endorsed by the Swedish tennis legend Bj'rn Borg who won a staggering 11 Grand Slam titles between 1974 and 1981. Borg's short lived, but highly successful, tennis career also saw some of the greatest styles Fila would ever release. Under the creative reigns of the legendary Italian designer, Pierluigi Rolando, the White Line was like nothing else the tennis world had ever seen. The colourful & flamboyant tennis-wear stuck two fingers up at Wimbledon's 'all white' traditions, breaking the norms with designer sportswear & varsity inspired designs. The late 1970s saw Borg reach the pinnacle of his tennis career, and for Fila it marked the next generation of 'casual' sportswear. His playboy lifestyle, expensive super cars and penthouse apartments in Monte Carlo made Borg the ideal pin-up boy with the Settanta starting a legacy of its own with the introduction of the Mk2 Settanta in 1981 which was closely followed by the Mk3 Settanta (Terrinda) in 1983.
