The Fila Settanta, or BJ as it also known, is a varsity inspired track top from the original White Line as famously worn by the Swedish tennis legend, Bj_rn Borg.
There's always been a bit of a buzz around the original Borg stuff from Fila & a bit is probably a massive understatement. Its the original Borg styles from the late 1970s & early 1980s that we're still talking about some 40 plus years later. With all roads leading back to the White Line from the legendary Fila designer, Pier Luigi Rolando, we'll probably still be talking about the original Borg styles for the next 40 years. Still considered by many as the holy grail of casual apparel, the Fila BJ Settanta track top is easily one of the most recognisable styles from the golden era of casual sportswear. One of the original White Line designs of the 1970s, the Settanta not only set the bar as far as sportswear was concerned but it also started a legacy of the Settanta style itself which would lead to various versions of the celebrated White Line style in the early 1980s.

Some of the early designs on the Fila White Line included the likes of the Settanta & the Tiebreak which drew inspiration from classic varsity style with baseball collars & never seen before tennis colours. One of the original Bj_rn Borg styles, it was arguably the Settanta that really catapulted the Italian sportswear brand into the public spotlight thanks to tennis superstar endorsements, grand slam titles & Borg's highly profiled playboy lifestyle. First released in 1976, it was Borg that would also take Fila to his 11 Grand Slam titles with the Settanta famously captured as Borg walked onto centre court for the Wimbledon final against Jimmy Connors in 1977. The Settanta quickly became associated with champions and mixed into the melting pot of one-upmanship and the growing Casual sportswear trend of the era, it was no surprise that the Settanta quickly became the go to style for every dresser. The BJ branding, the bold colourways & the elitist appeal simply put the Settanta in a class of its own.

After various revival releases over the last 15 years, the Fila Settanta or BJ as it also known, now returns in the original navy colourway as famously worn by the 'Ice Man' himself, Bj_rn Borg. You might also recognise the navy colourway from Nick Love's The Business from 2005. Worn by Danny Dyer with a pair of tennis shorts it was the cult classic crime film that introduced the late 70s track top to a new generation of retro sportwear fans. Now back at its spiritual home the Settanta is revived from the Fila archives. Featuring a soft touch cotton and polyester blend fabric in the classic navy colourway with gardenia detailing the BJ is instantly recognisable. With the original varsity inspired collar and stripes throughout this very special navy Settanta still remains one of our best sellers. Finished off the with the all important Fila F branding the Settanta is probably just about as good as it gets when it comes to casual sportswear from the 1970s & the 1980s.
