The Ellesse Rimini Returns in the Iconic Bex Colourway

The Ellesse Rimini returns for the latest season in the iconic 'Bex' colourway as famously worn by Paul Anderson in the opening scene of Nick Love's The Firm from 2009.
Let's just rewind back to 2009 for a second. The UK's obsession with Casual culture was in full swing following on from the success of films like The Football Factory from 2005 & also Green Street from the same year. Fila & Sergio Tacchini had experienced a revival literally like no other sportswear brands before them thanks to a new found love for all things 80s, retro & sportswear. 2009 saw the release of Kevin Sampson's Awaydays which featured an "aggy" Stephen Graham & focused on the Casual connection of Liverpool in the golden era of Forest Hills & wedge haircuts. Nick Love also took us back to the 1980s with a remake of The Firm which featured more on screen sportswear than ever before. Prior to the release of The Firm, Ellesse was lying dormant following its success throughout the 80s & 90s. All that changed in 2009. After working closely with Nick Love with the wardrobe for the Firm in 2009 we were approached by Ellesse to bring back key styles from the film. One of them "key styles" was the Ellesse Rimini in the iconic 'Bex' colourway which now returns for the very latest season. Above: The original Rimini track top worn & signed by Paul Anderson from The Firm 2009. First released in 1982 at the pinnacle of early 80s casual fashion, the original Ellesse Rimini track top couldn't have really been born at a better time as far as casual sportswear goes. With sportswear endorsements with tennis greats such as Boris Becker, Chris Evert and Guillermo Villas, Ellesse made sportswear cool, fresh and vibrant unlike anything seen before it. Just like Fila dominated the courts throughout the late 70s and early 80s so did Ellesse and it was these connections that gave them the credibility and respect they still hold so strong to this day. The new wave of celebrated sport-stars became the playboys of the tennis world, they had the money, the athleticism and the super stylish casual sportswear to go with it. Above: Bex played by Paul Anderson leads the firm wearing the iconic Rimini colourway. If you had to name one of the most iconic styles from The Firm from 2009, the Rimini is definitely up there. It was what every casual collector had been anxiously waiting for and famously featured in the opening scene of the film as we get a first glimpse of Bex's rather impressive wardrobe. The Ellesse Rimini is then brought back to life as Bex, played by Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders & Top Boy), swaggers across his manor to Kool & The Gang's post disco funk track 'Get Down On It'. The archive Ellesse style owes a lot to that opening scene, and as far as product placement goes it doesn't really get much better when it comes to classic sportswear from the 1980s.
