The origins of Lacoste go all the way back to the 1930s with the legendary French tennis player Ren_ Lacoste. The crocodile logo brand was named after Lacoste who was as elegant off the court, as much as he was a warrior on it. Lacoste soon joined an elite class of sporting individuals who earned a reputable nickname, little did he know that these tiny details would soon 'snap' together to create one of the biggest fashion styles of the last 90 years. A brand adopted by the original Casuals of the late 1970s & early 1980s, the iconic crocodile became like a badge of honour for its elitist appeal. Some Casuals even stitched fake crocodiles onto polo shirts with the "moody" Lacoste of the era highlighting just how sought after the French sportswear brand really was.
