Ok so Daniel Mays actually wore a Burberry Mac in Nick Love's remake of
The Firm from 2009, but in all fairness this latest Packable Trench Coat from Aquascutum is just as good, if not better. Don't get us wrong we absolutely love our 80s sportswear but there's just something pretty special, and very 80s, about that classic mac style whether it was on Bud Fox from Wall Street, the Borg Elite clad Connor MacLeod from Highlander or the legendary Yeti. Just like the expensive Italian sportswear, the mac was all about the price tag with Yuppie's from Long Island to London lapping up the classic outerwear throughout the 1980s. The Casuals & the "City Boys" were all over it styling it with sharp suits during the week whilst trading the FTSE and then jeans and trainers for the pub at the weekend. Obviously the collar had to be up to show off that classic check underneath.

Aquascutum might sound like some sort of fancy Victorian name but it's actually the Latin for 'watershield'. After a brief hiatus on what we thought was the end of the highly celebrated heritage brand the classic check now returns back to its spiritual home for 2024.
