The adidas Jeans MkII Trainer Gets The Black & Orange Brussels Treatment

The adidas Jeans MKII is a legendary 3 stripes shoe which now arrives in black & orange drawing inspiration from the original City Series trainer, the adidas Brussels.

If you had to list 3 things (all beginning with C) that the die hard adidas collectors lived for it would probably be something like City Series, Casuals & colourways. The 3 C's don't come together too often, although there are literally hundreds of classic adidas out there, but when they do it's always pretty special. For adidas trainer fans it's just as much about the colourways as it is the story of the shoe itself. The subculture connection and how performance trainers originally designed for athletes became the latest terrace trends for working class lads worn with jeans & jumbo cords. Some people just don't get it but what do we care? Classic adidas trainers like the Jeans MKII are just simply part of our DNA. Give it an updated twist & a City Series colourway inspiration, now we're talking. Now introduced in an updated black & orange colourway, the adidas Jeans MKII takes a little trip to the Belgian capital, Brussels, for some City Series nostalgia. adidas jeans mk2 black orange brussels Above: The adidas Jeans MKII trainer in black/orange now available from 80s Casual Classics. Giving a nod to the adidas Brussels trainer, this latest adidas Jeans MKII black/orange trainer puts a City Series spin on the classic 3 stripes silhouette. Revived from the adidas archives back in 2019, the original City Series trainer followed in the footsteps of other Continental classics like the Malmo, the Berlin, the London, the Hamburg, the Munchen & the Stockholm. Named after the Belgian capital city, the original Brussels trainer first arrived on the 3 stripes scene back in the 1970s and was originally made in West Germany. It’s signature black uppers with contrasting orange 3 stripes now lands on the original Jeans silhouette from the early 1980s. adidas jeans mk2 black orange brussels Above: The adidas Jeans MKII trainer in black/orange now available from 80s Casual Classics. Drawing design inspiration from the original SL ranges from the 1970s, the adidas Jeans trainer was well ahead of its time. Similar in appearance to the SL72 trainer, the adidas Jeans trainer debuted 3 years later in 1975. The MKI jeans trainer took its name from the growing jeans with trainers trend, something which Nike would also jump on a year later in 1976 with Farah Fawcett famously modelling a pair of Nike Cortez whilst riding a skateboard in Charlies Angels. However, it was actually the second release of the Jeans that really struck a cord with the growing Casual movement of the late 1970s. For adidas collectors it's always the Jeans MKII that is the most talked about. adidas jeans mk2 black orange brussels Above: The adidas Jeans MKII trainer in black/orange now available from 80s Casual Classics.
