Umbro & Gio Goi team up for a World Cup ready collection of apparel & accessories that celebrate Manchester's football & musical heritage.

We're extremely pleased to introduce the Umbro x Gio Goi collection to 80s Casual Classics, a collaboration which gives a nod to both brands' heritage from 90s football training gear to classic rave apparel. When it comes to the UK's homegrown rave culture of the late 80s & early 90s there were loads of clothing brands that were associated with the scene. The fact is though there weren't many that were actually born out of rave culture itself. Brands like Gio Goi didn't just become one of the "go to" brands for ravers because it looked cool, it's two founding brothers Christopher & Anthony Donnelly, also pioneered the scene. Their involvement in the illegal rave scene allowed them exclusive access to the underground, something the big corporate brands couldn't even dream of. Whilst the mainstream media might have portrayed smiley faces and baggy jeans the real world of rave was actually a lot different. Gio Goi was a testament to the DIY mentality of the original Acid House scene. If you could put on your own raves, why couldn't you do a clothing brand as well? Instead of selling other brands merchandise, the Donnelly brothers decided to launch their own brand with the introduction of Gio Goi in 1988. Surrounded by the secrecy & the hype of the underground rave scene, the Gio Goi gear quickly started to sell. Mixing Casual fashion with the colourful rave scene & in the words of the Donnelly brothers themselves "what the lads actually wanted to wear", Gio Goi became a brand you could wear on the sweaty dancefloors of the Hacienda as well as on the packed out terraces of the Stretford End. For 2022 the Manchester born brand now teams up with the classic British sportswear brand, Umbro, for a celebration of Manchester's football & musical heritage. Featuring a collection of apparel & accessories with classic Umbro drill styles like the Drill Smock & the Drill Sweat which both feature a 90s inspired oversized fit as well as a twill cotton fabric.
