Classic Sergio Tacchini Track Top Styles As Worn By The Tennis Legend Himself

John McEnroe was one of the greatest tennis players that ever lived, he also introduced the Sergio Tacchini track top to a new generation of casual sportswear lovers.
Even those who don't queue up for 5 hours to get a seat on 'Murray mound' during Wimbledon have heard of John McEnroe. Kind of like the Roy Keane of the tennis world, McEnroe was known for his famous outbursts and temper with the phrase "You cannot be serious" from Wimbledon 1981 and more umpire onslaughts at the Stockholm Open in 1984 even calling the match official "A jerk" and taking his frustration out on his own chair. McEnroe kept sports fans amused throughout the 80s but it was really his skill on the court and his signature volleying techniques that saw the American champion become one of the greatest the sport has ever seen. In his career John McEnroe won the US open 4 times, Wimbledon 3 times, The Masters 3 times and the WCT Finals 5 times, as well as his renowned rivalry with fellow tennis champion, Björn Borg, in the early 80s. Still considered one of the greatest players of all time the McEnroe legacy lives on, with a style and persona that will never be forgotten. McEnroe also adopted his own style throughout his career with his curly hair and headband as well as being kitted out in the latest Sergio Tacchini track top of the season, something that the casual elite would take note of, endorsing the Italian sportswear brand. Introducing new styles each tennis season, McEnroe was famous for wearing classic Sergio styles like the Masters, Dallas, Star and the Ghibli. After playing a crucial role in the revival of the Italian sportswear brand, Sergio Tacchini has become one of our bread and butter brands at 80s Casual Classics with the classic McEnroe styles of the 80s era still some of our biggest sellers to date.

Original Sergio track top styles like the Ghibli were made famous by John McEnroe in the USA Davis Cup team as famously worn when he played Björn Borg in the 1981 Wimbledon final. The Sergio Tacchini Star track top can also be traced back to the McEnroe era of the 80s as famously worn by McEnroe throughout the 1983 Wimbledon tournament coming head to head with other tennis legends such as Ivan Lendl. The Dallas was also a key style seen on the American tennis legend as worn when he walks onto centre court with Ivan Lendl in the 1984 French Open final and can also be seen on McEnroe when he lifts the Wimbledon trophy of the same year.
