Reebok Classic Nylon 1991

The Reebok Classic Nylon is An Early 90s Trainer Icon

Now revived from the archives the Reebok Classic Nylon trainer arrives at 80s Casual Classics in all its OG 90s glory.

When you look back at the early 90s there was so much stuff happening in terms of music, subculture & fashion. The sounds of late 80s House music had transitioned onto the fields of the UK's countryside with rave music even getting played on TOTP courtesy of Altern 8 & The Prodigy. There was also this band from Seattle that literally blew up overnight courtesy of a song about a teenage girls deodorant. Hip Hop also started a new era in the early 90s with Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G. & The Wu Tang Clan ditching the whole B-Boy thing for wallabees & workwear. Then there was the trainer technology thing, which really started in the 1980s, but would reach its competitive peak in the 90s. As sportswear brands like Reebok were introducing game changing sole technology like Hexalite the bar just seemed to get higher & higher. Literally a year after Hexalite was introduced the Bolton born brand went back to their 80s "classic" roots & introduced the Reebok Classic Nylon trainer, an updated version of the classic 80s all leather running trainer. Reebok's signature Union Jack logo became like a badge of honour for those looking to build better bodies courtesy of the British sportswear brand's clever marketing which spotted a gap in the 80s fitness world. Where other sportswear brands were looking to one-up each other with the latest sole technology on the running tracks, Reebok kept things simple with a range of 'All Leather' styles that would go down in trainer history. OG silhouettes like the Reebok Classic trainer championed the 80s fitness craze. An all purpose training shoe that could be used for various workouts from weight training to aerobics. First released in 1982, the Reebok Classic became the foundation of Reebok's celebrated 'All Leather' training styles during the 1980s. 9 years later in 1991, Reebok introduced the Classic Nylon trainer. Mixing the Classic's 80s fitness charm with early 90s colourways, the Classic Nylon paved the way for a 90s revival of the Classic silhouette which would pretty much last the entire decade.
