Modern Tailoring: New Marshall Artist Overshirts At 80s CC
Our selection of Marshall Artist Overshirts will make a great additional technical layer over a t-shirt for the colder months.
The overshirt is certainly nothing new. The style actually dates back to military uniform introduced throughout the 1940s by the US army. The khaki green field shirt was also a staple part of military uniform worn by US soldiers throughout the Vietnam war, and just like the parka, soon made its way into the general population as a popular ‘military’ style. Although usually in khaki or combat camouflage, the overshirt saw a huge revival in the 90s with the introduction of vibrant colours, denim and check. Italian sportswear brands put their own technical spin on the classic military style by introducing innovative fabrics and concepts that allowed the overshirt to evolve into more than just a military jacket/shirt. The military inspiration of the overshirt, or shacket as it is sometimes called, means the style usually features big functional pockets to the front. Great for storing ammunition and cigarettes etc in the jungles for the military, but also a great feature for everyday wear and function. The popular casual style is a great additional layer for any outfit, and certainly looks the business styled with a t-shirt underneath and buttoned at the top. Brands like Marshall Artist have continued to play an integral role in the development and function of the traditional overshirt style to the modern day wearer. We’ve now introduced a selection of Marshall Artist Overshirts for the latest season, each harking back to the original military design as well as packing the latest fabric technology, exclusive colours and styles.
