The origins of K-Way started with a vision from Leon Claude Duhamel. Whilst sat in a Parisian cafe in 1965, soaking up the culture of the romantic European city, it began to rain. Duhamel observed how the Parisians' mood quickly changed as it began to pour down, soaking their clothes in the process. The light bulb moment struck when Duhamel realised there was clearly a demand for a lightweight and functional waterproof rain jacket and he was going to design it. K-Way was born out of the original Pac A Mac concept. The lightweight nylon rain jacket could be easily stowed away in a small bag when the weather was fine. When a sudden downpour came the jacket could be pulled out of the bag and worn within seconds. K-Way was also one of the first brands to introduce the pullover cagoule style in a lightweight pack away rain jacket style. The Continental cagoule connection was an obvious choice for the Casuals on the rain soaked terraces of the UK.
