It was the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 that really put the London born middle distance runner, Seb Coe, on the global running stage as he took gold in the 1500m final. At the height of sportswear endorsements and running trainer tech of the 1980s, the partnership with Diadora sparked the next generation of running silhouettes from the Italian sportswear brand. First arriving on the scene back in 1984, the endorsement was a match made in heaven. Every sportswear brand wanted Seb Coe wearing their trainers and just like Bjorn Borg had served up Diadora (literally) to the very top of the court trainer style, so did the partnership with Seb Coe for their running department.

Seb Coe boasted numerous records on the track as well as gold medals in the 1500m in both the 1980 & 1984 Olympics. Coe would later go into politics leaving a lasting legacy on the running trainer world. With the rise of the running trainer trend of the 1980s many Casuals had already made the switch from the traditional gum soled court shoes. Following on from the elitist appeal of the Borg Elite trainer when the Seb Coe came on the scene it was an instant hit on and off the tracks. Giving a nod to the original 80s running silhouette as famously worn by the middle distance athlete, the Diadora Titan trainer revives the original Seb Coe silhouette from 84.
