Step Back Into The 1980s With The Diadora RACE NYL Trainer
Share
The Diadora RACE NYL trainer is an archive inspired silhouette that takes us back to the golden era of trainer technology in the 1980s.
If you're a fan of the retro stuff there probably aren't that many new trainer releases nowadays that really blow up your skirt. Even with the "Hypebeasts" it's Jordan this & Jordan that & although Air Jordan's are a far cry from a pair of Borg Elite's the first ever Jordan's actually came out back in the 1980s. Let's be brutally honest, as far as the best trainers are concerned they probably came out in the 1970s, the 1980s or the 1990s. The same goes for Diadora. Whether it was state of the art court trainers worn by the tennis elite or running trainers worn by gold medal winners it all usually relates back to these iconic decades. What's always really refreshing from a brand like Diadora is the ability to not only remain relevant in an ever changing face of fashion but to also refresh the retro stuff. The Diadora RACE NYL trainer is a never seen before style that draws inspiration from the running archives of the Italian sportswear brand. From a Diadora perspective it's sometimes easy to get lost in the Borg Elite with its shiny gold branding, premium price tag & Kangaroo leather. It was arguably the Borg Elite that gave Diadora the cult status it still holds to today with the Casual elite. It was literally the trainer that every working class Casual kid wanted at the time. As the classic court trainer trend shifted to the terrain driven technology of running silhouettes moving into the mid 1980s, so did Diadora. Although Diadora had already made their mark on the running world with OG styles like the Diadora Equipe back in 1975, it was the Borg Elite that really stated the Casual love affair with the Marcello Danieli founded sportswear brand. Diadora's clout for running trainers was taken to new levels courtesy of Seb Coe at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 with the introduction of the Seb Coe trainer in the same year. The game changing runner became the building block for Diadora's dominance on the tracks throughout the 1980s & 1990s with the introduction of other legendary runners such as the N9000. This latest RACE NYL release might technically be a brand new style but its sporty heritage runs a lot deeper. Featuring canvas uppers with a unique stonewash treatment and suede overlays in Diadora's signature colour-blocking style, the Race NYL could of easily come out of a back catalogue from 1985. Highlights include an EVA midsole for all day comfort and a studded outsole reminiscent of the all-terrain trail trainers from the 1980s. Finished off with Diadora branding to the tongue and available in a trio of fresh colourways the RACE NYL is what Diadora do best. Shop the latest trainer releases now from Diadora via the links.
