Well the year marked the first ever Mac from Apple to go on sale. The very first MTV music awards also started in 1984 and the year also marked the very first Terminator film with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Times were clearly changing & casual fashion had reached its peak. It was also the year adidas would launch their the highly respected ZX line as well as a selection of OG runners that have become some of the most sought after 3 stripe styles of all time. The adidas USA 84 trainer might not technically be an archive silhouette, but its inspirations certainly are. Drawing inspiration from the OG runners of the 1980s such as the Oregon from 1982, the New York from 1983 and the Boston Super from 1984. It is however the adidas Los Angeles from 1984, where the main inspiration of the USA 84 comes from. The Los Angeles was originally launched to celebrate the Los Angeles Olympics in the USA in 1984. The Los Angeles trainer featured revolutionary sole technology with its finely tuned peg shock system. It was a complete gamechanger. Now introduced in a trio of OG inspired colourways such as collegiate green, the USA 84 features a lightweight, two layer mesh upper that could easily be mistaken for an OG 3 stripes runner. Other features includes an EVA midsole for that extra cushioning underfoot & an archive inspired design which is sure to get adidas collectors scratching their heads.
