Fjällräven: Casual Bushcraft Gear

The latest collection from Fjällräven includes updated styles like the Fjällräven Vardag Anorak which features the Swedish brands’ signature G-1000 fabric.

Let’s cut straight to the chase. If you want some of the most functional, well made, “does it what it says on the tin” outdoors gear then you probably need a bit of Fjällräven in your life. Fjällräven is just one of them classic outdoors brands that never grows old. Born out of a casual need for clobber that kept you dry and protected from the elements on the terraces on a wet & windy afternoon, the Swedish connection runs far greater than bushcraft & backpacks. First introduced by Ake Nordin in 1960, Fjällräven specialises in outdoors apparel, accessories & everything else in between you need to survive a night in the wilderness. From the tents to the terraces, this latest collection features an updated version of the Fjällräven Vardag Anorak which utilises the Swedish brands’ signature G-1000 fabric.

So what’s go great about G-1000? Well if you know your Kanken from your Kiruna, you’ll know the significance of G-1000 to Fjällräven. Something like the equivalent of GORE-TEX to Berghaus (although G-1000 is exclusive to Fjällräven) G-1000 has been used across a range of apparel & accessories since the late 1960s. First introduced by Ake Nordin in 1968, it literally lasts for years with the right maintenance. The multi-functional fabric is durable, ventilating, wind resistant and even water resistant with the addition of Greenland Wax. As far as a “does it all” outdoors fabric is concerned, it doesn’t really get much better than G-1000.
