Three Lions On A Shirt, Gazza Tears & Kevin Keegan Perms
Our selection of England retro football shirts celebrate the forthcoming World Cup and an era of football nostalgia from the 80s and 90s.
England’s World Cup record hasn’t exactly been the greatest on the national football circuit has it? Saying that the same could be said for their World Cup anthems. New Order’s 1990 track ‘World in Motion’ obviously wasn’t some of the Manchester electronic bands finest music, lets forget the John Barnes rapping, but the track wasn’t half bad when compared with the likes of ‘This Time, We’ll Get It Right’ in 1982 sang by the actual England squad. Since 1990 England have performed gradually worse during the group stages of the World Cup, lucky some years to even make it to the quarter finals. Its the same story every 4 years, we all get back behind the national team only to realise once the tournament starts our players lack confidence and something physiologically isn’t right on the pitch, not to mention the penalty shoot outs. Regardless of the reality, its always good to get behind your home nation and wear your colours when the magic of the World Cup spills out onto the streets, squares and spaces of the cities and towns of the country. As the dream of World Cup glory grips the nation what better way to celebrate the greatest football tournament on the planet with our selection of England retro football shirts from the 80s and 90s.

The England 1982 retro football shirt as worn by the likes of Kevin Keegan, Ray Wilkins, Bryan Robson and Tony Woodcock in the 1982 World Cup held in Spain could arguably be one of the best England shirts of all time. In classic 80s V-neck style the shirt features the ‘3 Lions’ national emblem to the chest with red and blue stripe detailing to the shoulders and cuffs.
A great retro football shirt to add to your holiday wardrobe, we’ve also got the red away England shirt available from the same year as worn when England played West Germany in the group stages. England didn’t make the semi-finals that year, although they did come top of their group beating teams like France 3-1.

Moving on now from 1982 and fast forward 8 years to Italia 90′ where England looked like they were going to go all the way. As the likes of Roberto Baggio, Diego Maradona and Rudi Völler highlighted the international flair, England also had their own fair share of homegrown talent with Paul (Gazza) Gascoigne, Gary Linekar and David Platt. England made it through to the semi finals that year loosing to West Germany on penalties but the spirit was there. As the tournament came to an end for the England squad Gazza broke down in tears with the footage going down as some of the most nostalgic in English international football history. We’ve got the iconic shirt worn by the 1990 England squad in all its former glory now available at 80s Casual Classics, a great addition to our collection of England retro football shirts.
