Clarks Desert Trek

Two Clarks Classics’ Get The Burnt Orange Treatment

The Clarks Desert Trek & Wallabee styles are treated to a burnt orange makeover as part of the latest collection from the original ‘crep sole’ shoemakers.

If you had to name a selection of all time classic Clarks styles the Wallabee and the Desert Trek would be up there all day long alongside the Desert Boot and the Caravan. Two key styles from the British born shoemakers’ archives, the Clarks Wallabee and the Clarks Desert Trek have built up a cult following over the last 30 years with endorsements from hip hop royalty like The Wu Tang Clan to the ex Oasis front man himself, Liam Gallagher. The subculture connection is a lot stronger than your average Clarks ‘back to school’ shoe with both styles up there as some of their most respected and top sellers of all time. As other brands have tried to replicate that easy going, easy to wear, suede style, it just isn’t the same is it as from Clarks and never will be. The true pioneers and originators of the original ‘crep sole’ shoe, we’ve now introduced some brand new colourways of two classic Clarks styles to 80s Casual Classics.

Now introduced in a brand new burnt orange colourway, the Clarks Desert Trek is revived in this latest firey hue. First originating back in the 1970s the Desert Trek was simply introduced as an updated hiking version of the original Desert Boot, a style made famous for its hiker embossed logo to the heel. The cult classic has long been associated with the whole Manchester Indie swagger look in the UK thanks to the Gallagher brothers and their love for the original ‘cornish pasty’ shoe. That’s not to say the crep sole hiking shoe isn’t also appreciated in other parts of the world, but its generally the North West of England that always seems to be remembered when we talk about the subculture connection of this particular style. This latest version to land at 80s Casual Classics features the signature central seam detailing with soft leather uppers, classic crep sole and of course the iconic hiker logo to the heel.

Also introduced in the new burnt orange colourway is the original Wallabee style from Clarks, this time however in boot form. A ravers favourite throughout the late 80s and early 90s Acid House movement, the no fuss moccasin style shoe is just simply one of the best when it comes to classic Clarks styles. Sitting somewhere between a trainer and a smart shoe in the footwear department, the casual wallabee shoe also boasts a cult following thanks to its classic 60s style and musical heritage as famously worn by the Wu Tang Clan and The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft to name a few. The latest version of the Wallabee boot features suede uppers in burnt orange with carefully crafted stitching throughout alongside the all important crep sole underfoot. Both styles are finished off with the iconic Clarks Originals embossed logo tag to the laces.
