The original Samba was first introduced by Adi Dassler himself in 1949 as a football training shoe alternative for when the ground had frozen. It was Dasslers football boots’ expertise that made the Samba so robust and sturdy for foul weather play. The addition of suede to the toe and full grain leather uppers gave the shoe performance qualities like nothing before it. The popular leather trainer became an ideal shoe for indoor training and was officially released in 1962 for the Chile World Cup. The Samba’s football heritage continued throughout the 80s with football fans adopting adidas trainers as their uniform. For the casuals the Samba was the perfect accompaniment to a pair of jeans and their colourful sportswear and still remains to this day one of the most popular casual styles. The OG Samba is now re-introduced in the classic collegiate purple colourway, a great companion to the Firebird track top that will give your casual outfit that added ‘purple magic’. Highlights of the popular casual trainer style include contrasting 3 stripes to the sides and heel tab, gold ‘Samba’ foiling, leather uppers and the signature suede detailing to the toe.
